In 2025, The Berlin Wall. A World Divided continued its journey across Europe, carrying with it fragments of history and the voices of those who endured decades of division. From Madrid, where we began the year in our final weeks in the city, to Paris, where the exhibition was presented in the very heart of the city, at Trocadéro Square.
There, original fragments of the Wall installed outside the Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine, together with personal testimonies from those who lived through this unnatural division, came to life before thousands of visitors. Passers-by were invited to pause and reflect on the fragility of freedom and the strength of those who defended it. Inside, more than 200 original objects told stories of surveillance, separation, and hope. Each testimony, each object, reminding us that history is not only what happened, but how it transforms us and invites us to reflect on our present. The final month in Paris was completely sold out every day, confirming the exhibition’s relevance and emotional impact.
Now, Barcelona hosts the exhibition at Espacio Inmersa, marking its final European stop before crossing the Atlantic to the United States in 2026. Here, the Wall ceases to be just concrete—it becomes living memory: stories of divided families, decisions that shaped generations, and enduring lessons about freedom and democracy.
Once again, at Musealia, we remain committed to our mission of bringing history to different parts of the world and making it more accessible to everyone. Exhibitions like The Berlin Wall. A World Divided help us understand our past in order to better comprehend our present, and encourage reflection on the importance of defending human rights and freedom, anywhere and at any time.
